This former Sailmaker and Sea Captain’s home is a wonderful example of architecture of the time with its large, sunlit, double parlors and curved walls. Decorated with a pleasing blend of antiques and casual comfort, our focus is on the little things that usually go unnoticed.
For our guests’ enjoyment, the Wildflower Inn has a lounge area with digital cable and VCR; a well stocked video library, an extensive selection of games, jigsaw puzzles and books, exercise equipment (available during limited hours), and a refrigerator for guest use. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the inn for use with your laptop.
Our cozy dining room is complete with a fire to warm you on those cool Maine mornings while you enjoy a full, delicious breakfast and some very serious coffee! Entrees you may enjoy during your stay range from Penobscot Potato Boats to Blueberry Crème Brule French Toast and, of course, fresh fruit and a selection of juices are always included.
The inn is located on US Coastal Route 1, just one block from Penobscot Bay. The property includes over one half acre of beautiful and colorful perennial gardens, complete with fountains, a pond, numerous birdbaths and feeders, and outside sitting areas, including our side porch with comfortable Adirondack chairs and rockers.
Historic downtown Searsport, pleasingly old fashioned, and home to the Penobscot Marine Museum with eight buildings on the National Historic Register, is only a short walk from the inn. While in the village, browse the shops and wander around Mossman Park, on the rocky shores of Penobscot Bay, where you can hunt for sea glass.
